Welcome to our website.
Our
club was formed in 1989, five years later we had a women’s team,
and three years after that our junior section was up and running.
We are currently the largest underwater hockey club in Wales, and as Welsh
Champions this year for the second year in succession, some of our members
(well, all of us really!) consider that we are simply the best in the
region.
Sessions
All of our sessions are held at Pembroke Leisure Centre
Pool
Mondays 9.0-10.0 pm – Senior’s session.
Wednesdays 7.0 – 8.0 pm – Under thirteen’s session.
During this period we coach the 8 to13 year olds. New entrants are guided
through basic snorkelling and elementary sticks skills. During these sessions
they are progressively taken through four skill level achievement awards,
building fitness, agility and progressively learning the rules of play.
Wednesdays 8.0 – 9.0 pm – Under sixteen’s session.
This group comprise mainly those who have graduated from the earlier session.
Emphasis now moves on to team skills and strategies.
Our U13’s and U16’s teams take part in the BOA junior national
championships each year as well as other club based tournaments.
Senior activities
Our seniors enter the National Nautilus competition each year and our
Women’s team usually hold their annual tournament in the spring.
The club welcomes all visitors and especially anyone wanting to try out
the game. The first session is free, even for scuba divers!
Champion fundraisers!!!
Underwater Hockey raises over £7000 for Sport Relief 2008. Amongst
all the UK clubs and teams Pembroke raised the most toward the £7000
total, bringing in over £1500. On 12th March twenty four club members,
juniors and seniors, completed the mile underwater. Each relay team of
three guided their hockey pucks along the length of Pembroke Swimming
Pool for over eighty lengths to complete the challenge.
